MPT Gonzales made a motion to approve staff recommendations, direct staff to move forward <br />with Amendment No. 5 to the WDA, and initiate the RFP process for a new solid waste <br />collection and disposal contract to coincide with the Colton Landfill closure. <br />CM Suchil gave comments and asked that an additional recital be added as follows: <br />E. The County will not accept any waste at Colton Landfill that is not generated from a <br />WDA city or unincorporated area of the County of San Bernardino. <br />Jerry Newcomb, County of San Bernardino, provided information regarding the current landfill <br />system. Council Members gave comments and there was discussion regarding the current rates <br />and revenue. <br />Mayor Zamora restated the motion by MPT Gonzales and seconded by CM Suchil, directing <br />staff to move forward with Amendment No. 5 to the WDA and to direct staff to initiate the RFP <br />process for a new solid waste collection and disposal contact, and the addition of Recital E to the <br />WDA. Motion carried with the following vote: Council Members Suchil and Oliva, Mayor <br />Zamora and MPT Gonzales voting yes; Council Members Toro, Bennett and Navarro voting no. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />At 7:29 p.m., Mayor Zamora closed the special meeting in memory of the 20 children and 6 <br />adults that passed away in the town of Newton, Connecticut and asked for a moment of silence in <br />their honor. <br />Eileen C.
