City Manager Benest explained that the City is shifting dollars every
day, and keeps as much money in investment accounts as possible in
order to derive the most interest, which sometimes minimizes the amount
in the checking accounts. Mr. Benest stated that another report would
be prepared explaining these procedures in greater detail, and would
answer these questions.
Councilman Rios asked when this report would be presented to the Council
and if it would outline, in detail, answers to these questions.
Mr. Benest stated the report would be on the Consent Calendar and would
detail these matters.
Moved by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Councilman Rios, to approve Fiscal
Year 1985-86 Annual Financial Audit. Unanimous vote.
Personnel
City Manager Benest introduced to the Council Members and all present
the new Recreation Services Manager, Mr. Ray Gonzales.
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL ITEMS:
Proclamations
Mayor Gonzales read in full the following Proclamations:
Earthquake Preparedness Month - April, 1987 - accepted by Fire Chief
Ron Gemmell.
National Cable Month - April, 1987 - accepted by Alton "Bud" Solem
of Colton Cablevision, Inc.
National Library Week - April 5 to 11, 1987 - accepted by Eleanor
Beckwith, Colton Library Board. Mrs. Beckwith invited everyone to a
tea at the Library, Thursday, April 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p. m.
We Tip
Mayor Gonzales referred to his memorandum regarding We Tip, a crime
reporting corporation which provides an effective way for our citizens
to supply information to law enforcement regarding crimes while retain-
ing their anonymity. Mayor Gonzales advised this organization contains
many individual members, as well as city and corporation members, and
is supported and endorsed by many officials.
Mayor Gonzales recommended the City of Colton become a contributing
member in We Tip, at a cost of $1,096.76 for one year's membership.
After discussion, moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman
Cisneros, to approve Mayor's recommendation for membership in We Tip.
Unanimous vote.
C
