September 9, 2000 in Anaheim, CA. One very important aspect of the annual conference is the annual business meeting when the membership takes action on conference resolutions. Annual conference resolutions guide cities and the League in our efforts to improve the quality, responsiveness and vitality of local government in California. It is important that all cities be represented at the annual business meeting on Saturday, September 9, 2000, at 9 a.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center. To expedite the conduct of business at this important policy-making meeting, each city council should designate a voting representative and an alternate who will be present at the annual business meeting. League bylaws provide that each city is entitled to one vote in matters affecting municipal or League policy. A voting card will be given to the city official designated by the city council on the enclosed "Voting Delegate Form." If the mayor or a member of the city council is in attendance at the conference, it is expected that one of these officials will be designated as the voting delegate. However, if the city council will not have a registered delegate at the conference but will be represented by other city officials, one of these officials should be designated the voting delegate or alternate. Please complete and return the enclosed 'Voting Delegate Form" to the Sacramento office of the League at the earliest possible time (not later than Friday, August 18, 2000), so that proper records may be established for the conference. The voting delegate may pick up the city's voting card at the designated Voting Card desk located in the League registration area. The voting procedures to be followed at this conference are printed on the reverse side of this memo. Your help in returning the aftached'Voting Delegate Form" as soon as possible is appreciated.
