CITY OF COLTON <br />ADJOURNED CITY COUNCIL MEETING AND <br />SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />AUGUST 18, 1994 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, an Adjourned <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Colton was <br />held on the above given date at 4:40 p.m., in the Council <br />Chambers of City Hall, Mayor Gonzales presiding. <br />ROLL CALL• <br />Councilmembers present were Bennett, Rios, Cook, Beltran and <br />Mayor Gonzales. Also present were Acting City Manager Gabriel, <br />City Attorney Biggs and City Clerk Ramos. Mayor Gonzales <br />announced that Councilmember Sandoval* was at the Hospital with <br />his child and would arrive shortly and that Councilmember <br />Cisneros was on vacation. <br />AGREEMENT• <br />SMI <br />Acting City Manager Gabriel reported the <br />Council is the Consideration of Approval <br />Agreement and General Conditions of that <br />and Associates and SMI Contractors, Inc. <br />over from the regular meeting of August <br />Gabriel stated the individuals involved <br />the audience to answer any questions the <br />first item before the <br />of General Contractor <br />Contract between Steward <br />This item was carried <br />16, 1994. Manager <br />in this project are in <br />Council may have. <br />Motion by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to <br />approve items 1 and 2 on the Agenda, for discussion purposes. <br />Item 2 is the Consideration and Approval of Award of Bid for <br />Demolition/Grading and Swimming Pool/Chain Link Fencing for <br />Community Center. <br />Councilmember Bennett expressed concern at approving the contract <br />document with SMI, stating this is the first she had seen it in <br />full. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated it is a standard document. <br />Attorney Biggs reported the City is actually ratifying a contract <br />between Steward and SMI. The City has a contract with Steward <br />for a set amount in which Stewart is to construct the pool and <br />community center. Should there be any overruns, it will be <br />Steward who will be responsible for the excess. <br />Councilmember Bennett reiterated her concern on the Council <br />putting its Blessing on a document that the Council has not had <br />sufficient time to review.
