salaries for the inspectors over to CDBG funding. <br />Councilmember Beltran inquired about the amount of hours being <br />worked by the two provisional Code Enforcement Officers. Director <br />Zamora replied the individuals are working 40 hours per week. <br />Building <br />Community Development Director Zamora reported the 1994/95 <br />Requested was $474,586 and the 1994/95 Recommended is $391,771 with <br />the modification to the budget being $1,000. Councilmember Bennett <br />asked why there was an increase of $10,000 over last year. <br />Director Zamora replied that it could be in part due to <br />reclassification of an employee. Councilmember Sandoval asked if <br />the Budgets in Community Development were as lean as they could <br />get. If you are asked to make additional cuts where would you cut. <br />Director Zamora said he would work with the City Manager in order <br />to make the necessary cuts. Councilmember Sandoval asked if the <br />department's budget was adequate or more than adequate. Director <br />Zamora said the budget was adequate. Even with the proposed cuts, <br />he feels confident that the department would be able to provide <br />good service. <br />Code Enforcement <br />Director Zamora reported total Request for 94/95 is $204,229 and <br />total Recommended is $196,765. This is the budget mentioned by <br />City Manager Martinez wherein, the salary amount could be offset by <br />utilizing CDBG Funds instead of the General Fund. That amount <br />would be $109,000. The other item looked into on request of the <br />City Manager, was the funding of the vehicle used by Code <br />Enforcement. This amount is approximately $5,000 and is eligible <br />to be funded by CDBG Funds. <br />Councilmember Cisneros asked if the funds being allocated from CDBG <br />are from the Administrative portion. Director Zamora responded <br />yes. Councilmember Cisneros asked for reassurance that none of the <br />CDBG projects would lose funding as a result of these new <br />allocations. Director Zamora replied no. The monies in the CDBG <br />fund that are being allocated to Code Enforcement are surplus, from <br />previously allocated projects that the Council has considered. <br />Councilmember Cook stated her opinion that Code Enforcement is <br />playing a big part in the City. She asked Director Zamora if this <br />budget was going to be sufficient to do what needs to be done in <br />Code Enforcement. Director Zamora replied yes. Mayor Gonzales <br />asked for clarification on the dollars being allocated. He asked <br />if these were the new dollars or last year's monies. Director <br />Zamora asked Andres Soto to provide the numbers. Mr. Soto stated <br />$72,340 are from 1993-94 and $36,900 is from 94/95, allocated to <br />the Contingency Account. <br />2 <br />
