system projected to cost $190,000 a year for three years. He <br />stated the existing phone system is antiquated, but it does work <br />and the City could forgo this for three years and the same would go <br />for the computer system for the Fire Department. Mayor Fulp said <br />he very definitely supports the accounting system. <br />Mayor Fulp said he felt the intent of the Utility User Tax was to <br />pay down debt and to get a good credit rating and that he would <br />like to see the budget reduced to $14 million and use the extra $2 <br />million to pay back the debt. He said the goal is to turn the City <br />into a fiscally responsible position short and long range. Mayor <br />Fulp asked the Council to consider his proposal of reducing the <br />budget and that should this occur, to instruct staff to provide <br />information as to how this would be accomplished. <br />Councilmember Hutton said there is one item that the Council will <br />be considering that will reduce the General Fund by $1.2 million <br />and that is the Landscape and Lighting Maintenance District. <br />Councilmember Sandoval said he has no objection to receiving any <br />information from staff between now and June 20, 1995. <br />Motion to forgo any additional budget sessions until the regular <br />meeting of the Council on June 20, 1995 carried.
