The City must keep an open rapport with the Water Board and keep <br />them informed. If by June 15 the Water Board is told that the City <br />has a positive date - or repaired something - this will establish <br />a better rapport with the Water Board. He said there have been <br />four different sessions where immediacy has been discussed and the <br />City must show good faith in starting and repairing the water and <br />sewer department and get it up to snuff or the City will get in <br />trouble. <br />Councilmember Beltran assured Mr. Jackson's plea would not be taken <br />lightly and he called for the question. <br />The above motion carried upon unanimous vote. Absent were <br />Councilmembers Bennett and Sanders. <br />Commissioner Cordova declared it had been very hard to get this <br />resolution to City Council and he thanked them for working together <br />so that this can be accomplished. He expected that reports in the <br />future will recommend expansion to a total of 8.4 MBG capacity, for <br />an additional 2 MBG capacity, which will allow the City to shut <br />down areas to conduct repairs when necessary. <br />Mr. Bruce Mill of Three Valleys Water District commended City <br />Council with regard to opening up the RFP. He remarked that in the <br />engineering community it is difficult to find a truly independent <br />and objective report and suggested that City Council insist that <br />the engineering firm back it up. <br />Councilmember Cook complimented the Utilities Commission for the <br />many hours spent conducting this research. She had attended the <br />last three meetings and was aware of what had taken place. She <br />stated the Members had done a wonderful job.
