CLOSED SESSION: <br />Rev. Steven Anderson asked to speak ahead of Closed Session and was advised by <br />City Attorney Biggs that this was not the time and referred him to the Public <br />Comment Section. CA Biggs announced the City Council would meet in Closed <br />Session to confer with Legal Counsel regarding two matters of pending litigation, <br />pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(b), and stated she anticipated no <br />reportable action: Gibbonev v. City of Colton (CV96-2973) and Anderson v. City of <br />Colton. <br />At 6:51 P. M., meeting adjourned to Closed Session. At 7:35 P. M., meeting <br />reconvened with all Members present as heretofore. <br />City Attorney Biggs announced that City Council did meet in Closed Session as <br />previously indicated and stated there was no reportable action taken. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />Rev. Steve Anderson said that pastors and citizens have gathered to speak against the <br />adult clubs in the City and to ask that they be shut down. He commented on <br />Taormina Industries and their recent disclosure that a lobbyist was receiving $6,000 <br />a month. City Attorney Biggs assured that City Council is doing everything it can to <br />enforce the law under the regulations of the Constitution of the United States of <br />America. She stated there can be no comment on action being taken. <br />Mr, John Aguilar, Jr., asked that Neighborhood Services Director Anstine be given <br />direction to create a wall of fame at the Community Center to recognize outstanding <br />achievements by our youth such as Mr. Albert Guardado, Jr., who will represent the <br />United States at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He mentioned the Mixcoacalli <br />Ballet Folklorico group that has served in Colton for 25 years. Councilmember Cook <br />volunteered to help on this project and Mayor Fulp directed staff to study this request. <br />Ms. Marlene Dedrich commented on the trash rates. She praised Mayor Fulp and the <br />Police Department. She thanked the Mayor and TCI for televising the Morman Church <br />Conferences. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS: <br />District 5: <br />Since the County had done it, Councilmember Bennett asked that staff clear the <br />hillside where the fire recently occurred. City Manager Martinez agreed to look into <br />it. She spoke about the need to set goals. She suggested the development of a plan <br />to attract tourism.
