Director Gabriel said a recent survey was conducted which revealed the cemetery's rates as
slightly lower than the average and the possible increase in rates will first be presented to the
Commission and then to Council,
Motion by Mayor Fulp to approve the cemetery budget as presented by staff. The second was
made by CM Cook and it passed with CM Hansen absent.
Capital Projects
Finance Director Vega indicated there were two issues in the CIP, making funds available to the
Reche Canyon area, the initial 900,067 and street pavement projects carried over from 1995-56,
gas tax capital improvements monies, host city fees, and Measure I funds. CM Hutton asked
to earmark CIP monies, known as Major Street Improvements, in the sum of $84,000, for a
drainage facility improvement in Reche Canyon, specifically, at Shadid Drive and Fern Lane.
Discussion had on whether $100,000 was sufficient funding for the Reche Canyon area. CM
Bennett said that portions of Reche Canyon are in the County pocket and the County may be
willing to do road improvements in that area. CM Hutton stated that any drain design is
contingent on County of San Bernardino's approval.
City Manager Martinez reminded Council that cost was expensive for roadwork, drainage, and
to straightening out the curve. CM Bennett indicated that the $2 million figure included
widening the road to a five -lane road. She concluded that the present project does not expand
the road, and the work selected would reduce the cost.
Director Vega indicated that staff was asked to provide funding to provide funding for area
lighting in Dauer Park. She said $5,000 was taken from acquisition/installation from ADA
accessible park amenities and put it for the lighting.
Water/Wastewater
Regarding the wastewater project, Interim Director Evans said $400,000 was approved tonight
for sewer line rehabilitation. He spoke about the remaining cost for the design of wastewater
treatment plant expansion/upgrade, which benefit the entire City.
Motion by Mayor Fulp to direct staff to finalize adjustments to FY 1996-97 budget, and to
prepare Resolutions R-59-96, R-61-96, R-62-96, R-63-96 and R-64-96 for final approval.
Motion seconded by CM Bennett. She inquired about the Cooley Ranch Park. Assistant to the
City Manager Parrish reported that he spoke to the contractor who said that herbicides had been
placed and they are working on the park. Motion carried with CM Hansen absent.
Audit
Motion/second by CM Sanders/ Cook to approve FY 1994-95 audit from Moreland and
Associates. Discussion re findings as to the payback of the $6.8 million and total $8.8 million
rol
jUN 1 1996
