At 6:37 P. M., Mayor Gaytan recessed the meeting to Closed Session. At 7:48 P. M., the <br />general meeting was reconvened with all Members present as heretofore. <br />City Attorney Biggs announced that the City Council did meet in Closed Session on various <br />items on the agenda; however, only one item was considered: One matter under Item D, <br />significant exposure to potential litigation and there was no reportable action taken. <br />All remaining Closed Session items were continued to the end of the agenda. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS <br />Presentations, Awards, Proclamations <br />State of the School District <br />Presentation on the strong academic standing; the college participation and the building plans of the <br />School District was made by Dr. Herbert R. Fischer, Superintendent for the Colton Joint Unified <br />School District. Also present were School Board Members Ray Abril, Frank Ibarra and Kawika <br />Smith, Assistant Superintendent Dennis Byas accompanied by a contingency of principals, vice <br />principals and lead teachers. <br />0 Recognition was made of exemplary conduct in a recent pursuit by Officer Lou Gamache, <br />Officer John Hoffman, Chuck Lewis, David Zamora and Pauline Roque. <br />RECESS: <br />At 8:18 P. M., Mayor Gaytan declared a recess. At 8:30 P. M., the meeting was reconvened with <br />all members present except for CM Sandoval who was absent. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS (Continued) <br />0 Proclamation read by CM Sanders honoring Metrolink's 5"' anniversary. <br />0 Proclamation read by CM Cook declaring October 5 - 11, 1997, as Fire Prevention Week, <br />which was accepted by Acting Fire Chief Hendrix. <br />0 Proclamation read by CM Sanders declaring October 5 - 11, 1997, as Public Power Week, <br />presented to Utility Director Tom Clarke. <br />0 Certificate of Recognition for Personnel Director Gracie Fernandez Harmon was read by CM <br />Chastain. Mayor Gaytan offered to deliver the certificate. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Bid - RP Landscape <br />After discussion regarding terms of the bid, change orders, and performance bond, the matter was <br />pulled by the City Manager to return October 21, 1997 with recommendations.
