CM Chastain presented a Proclamation to Santa Clause Inc., a non-profit volunteer <br />organization, in honor of their 50th Anniversary and their outstanding commitment to providing <br />clothing, toys and books to underprivileged families at Christmas time. Planning Commissioner <br />Susan Oliva, a volunteer with Santa Clause Inc. accepted for the organization. <br />Presentation — Voter Registration Week 9/30 — 10/6/2002 <br />Mayor Deirdre Bennett presented City Clerk Carolina Barrera with a Proclamation in honor of <br />Voter Registration Week beginning September 30, 2002 through October 6, 2002. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />(1) Land Use Designation <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider approval of a Specific Plan Amendment to change <br />the Land Use Designation in the West Valley Specific Plan and a Negative Declaration for 2245 <br />West Valley Boulevard. <br />Mayor Bennett declared the Public Hearing "Open". <br />City Clerk Barrera said the Affidavit of Publication calling the Public Hearing was on file in the <br />City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received. <br />Community Development Director David Zamora, presented an overview of the Agenda Report <br />for Council consideration and approval of staff's recommendation. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />The period for Public Comment was closed, as there was no request to speak. <br />Motion/seconded by CM Hernandez/CM Ramos to terminate the Public Hearing. Unanimous <br />vote. <br />Motion/seconded by CM Hernandez/CM DeLaRosa to approve and adopt RESOLUTION NO. <br />R-108-02, Specific Plan Amendment. Unanimous vote. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br />(2) Consolidated MOU — Approved and Adopted a RESOLUTION that Joins the New <br />Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IBEW (Electric Unit) to the Consolidated MOU, <br />RESOLUTION NO. R-103-02. <br />City Manager Daryl Parrish explained that this item was pulled from the September 3, 2002 <br />Agenda due to the fact that the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers had <br />not come together to vote on it, however they did vote on it on September 5, 2002, so it is now <br />being brought forward for consideration and approval of staff's recommendation. <br />Motion/seconded by CM DeLaRosa/CM Ramos to approve and adopt RESOLUTION NO. R- <br />108-02, Unanimous vote. <br />IN <br />
