CITY OF COLTON <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES <br />May 13, 2003 <br />In accordance with notice duly and legally given, a Special Meeting of the City Council of the <br />City of Colton was held on the above -given date at 5:10 p.m., with Mayor Bennett presiding. <br />CITY COUNCIL ROLL CALL <br />Councilmembers present were Zamora, Mitchell, Ramos, Chastain, De La Rosa, Hernandez <br />and Mayor Bennett. <br />Said Special Meeting shall be for the purpose of studying and or discussion on the following <br />matters: <br />Budget Workshop <br />City Manager Daryl Parrish opened the workshop by providing a brief overview of what would <br />be presented at this budget workshop, he provided Council and Staff with copies of power point <br />presentation recapping on two major goals each with five components contributing to the <br />completion of those goals. <br />Goal #1 Beautification Programs <br />✓ Clean-up and improved maintenance of community entrances, City Parks, major <br />corridors, underpasses, medians and City rights of ways <br />✓ Develop inventory of areas in need of improvement and establish priorities, identify <br />sources for improvements, develop staff and work schedules to accomplish <br />aforementioned improvements and enhanced maintenance <br />✓ Provide a plan for the installation of, and install, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and <br />handicapped ramps <br />✓ Bring forth additional street rehabilitation programs, slurry sealing programs and joint <br />infrastructure programs with adjacent communities <br />✓ Create rehabilitation programs for older homes <br />Goal #2 Enhanced Customer Service & Training <br />✓ Provide specific mandatory training for customer service and employee efficiency. <br />Provide telephone training, voice mail training, and customer contact training for <br />Directors, Supervisors and Employees <br />✓ Improve Inter and intra Departmental Communications through training and regular staff <br />meetings <br />✓ Make certain that employee evaluations are done on time <br />✓ Improve the "customer friendliness" of Civic Center Facilities <br />✓ Increase the number of bi-lingual staff <br />Council and staff discussed the goals with the suggestion that we keep the current giving <br />direction to staff to include an additional core value to include alley maintenance and installation <br />2003 MAY 13 SPEC MTG - 1 - <br />
