intention to remove said City Manager shall have been <br />adopted by at least a majority of said members which said <br />resolution shall state the reasons or grounds for the <br />proposal removal. A certified copy of said Resolution <br />of Intention shall then be served personally upon said <br />City Manager, or by registered mail, postpaid, addressed <br />to his last known address, or both, and he shall have <br />the right to defend himself against such charges before <br />said City Council at a public hearing and at a time to <br />be fixed by it, which shall be not less than 2 weeks <br />after the service of said Resolution of Intention upon <br />said City Manager and not more than thirty days there- <br />after. The City Council may thereupon or within five <br />days thereafter enact a resolution by an affirmative <br />vote of a majority of the members of said City Council, <br />either discharging said City Manager or retaining him <br />in office, as it may by such resolution determine. <br />SECTION II. Eligibility. Residence in the City of Colton at <br />the time of appointment of a City Manager shall not be required as a <br />condition of the appointment, but within a reasonable time thereafter <br />as determined by the City Council, the City Manager must be a resident <br />of the City of Colton and if he is not such a resident, then the City <br />Council shall declare the office of City Manager vacant. <br />No person elected as a Councilman of the City of Colton shall, <br />subsequent to such election, be eligible for appointment as City <br />Manager of the City of Colton until one year has elapsed after such <br />Council member shall have ceased to be a member of the City Council. <br />The City Manager must be citizen of the United States, not less <br />than thirty years of age and shall be a person c)f demonstrated <br />administrative ability with experience in responsible executive <br />positions, and he shall be chosen by the City Council solely upon the <br />basis of his executive and administrative qualifications, as determined <br />by the City Council. <br />SECTION III. The City Manager shall furnish a corporate surety <br />bond to be approved by the City Council of the City of Colton in such <br />sum as may be determined by said City Council and shall be conditioned <br />-2- <br />
