{f <br />1 ORDINANCE NO. 1.471 <br />2 AN ORDINANCE LICENSING THE TRANSAC^1ION <br />AND CARRYING ON OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES, <br />3 TRADES, PROFESSIONS, CALLINGS AND <br />OCCUPATIONS IN THE CITY OF COLTON FOR <br />4 THE PURPOSE OF RAISING MUNICIPAL REVENUE <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION <br />5 THEREOF. <br />6 <br />7 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />8 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />9 <br />ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS <br />10 <br />11 SECTION .1. PURPOSE. <br />12 The provisions of this ordinance are enacted solely to <br />13 raise revenue for municipal purposes and are not intended for <br />14 regulation. <br />15 <br />SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS. <br />16 <br />17 For the purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise <br />18 apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this <br />19 chapter are defined as follows: <br />20 (a) "Business" shall mean and include professions, <br />21 trades, occupations, and all and every kind of calling, whether <br />22 or not carried on for profit. <br />23 <br />24 (b) "City" shall mean the City of Colton, a municipal <br />25 corporation of the State, in it present incorporated form or <br />26 in any .later reorganized consolidated, enlarged, or reincorporated <br />27 form. <br />28 (c) "Collector" shall mean the Director of Finance, <br />29 or other City officer charged by the City Manager with the <br />30 administration of the provisions hereof. <br />31 <br />32 (d) "Gross receipts" shall mean and include the total <br />1 <br />
