The City Council finds and declares: <br />1. That a public hearing has been duly and legally held by the <br />Planning Commisison of the City of Colton on a Text Amendment to various parts <br />of the Colton Municipal Code and Ordinance No. 1602 pertaining to signs and <br />video arcade games. <br />2. That said Planning Commission has recommended the adoption of <br />the proposed Text Amendment. <br />3. That said Text Amendment and the recommended action appropri- <br />ately shown is as follows: <br />The following Sections are added to read: <br />Section 18.24.040.B.3.a.ix. <br />Freeway -oriented signs. In order for a sign to be considered <br />freeway -oriented, it must be located on property which is adja- <br />cent to a freeway or whose only separation from a freeway is a <br />public or quasi -public right-of-way or easement. The sign may <br />be up to 45 feet in height. The actual height is to be deter- <br />mined by the Development Review Committee. Freeway -oriented sign. <br />may have an area of 100 square feet per face with a total of 200 <br />square feet. <br />Section 18.24.040.B.3.a.x. & Section 18.24.040.B.2.b.x. <br />Marquee or changeable copy signs. These types of signs shall <br />be considered to be the same as any other type of sign, and it <br />shall be regulated by its location, i.e., if located on a wall, <br />it shall be a wall sign, if located on a pole, it shall be a pole <br />sign, etc. <br />Section 18.24.110 <br />Amusement Arcade. An amusement arcade, hereafter called <br />arcade, shall be defined as: <br />1. A business operating five or more coin-operated machines <br />within an enclosed building, which includes, but is not <br />limited to, video games, pinball machines, and other similar <br />electronic and mechanical games of skill and chance. <br />
