<br />the City of Colton, State of California, County of

<br />for the dissemination of local news and intelli-
<br />gence of a general character, and which newspaper
<br />at all the times herein mentioned had and still
<br />has a bona fide subscription list of paying sub-
<br />scribers, and which newspaper has been estab-
<br />lished, printed and published at regular intervals
<br />in the said City of Colton, State of California,
<br />County of Son Bernardino, for a period exceeding
<br />one year next preceding the date of publication of
<br />the notice hereinafter referred to; and which news-
<br />paper is not devoted to nor published for the in-
<br />terests, entertainment or instruction of a particular
<br />class, profession, trade, calling, race, or denomin-
<br />ation, or any number of Some; that the notice, of
<br />which the annexed is a printed copy, has been
<br />published in each regular and entire issue of said
<br />newspaper and not in any supplement thereof on

<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1639
<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE
<br />CITY OF COLTOK'AMENDING
<br />ORDINAL CE NO.1312AND
<br />SECTION 3.24.030 OF
<br />THE COLTON MUNICIPAL
<br />CODE, UNIFORM TRANSIENT
<br />OCCUPANCY TAX, AND
<br />REPEALING ORDINANCE
<br />NO. 1472.
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF
<br />THE CITY OF COLTON DOES
<br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br />That Section 3 of Ordinance
<br />No. 1312 and Section 3.24.030 of
<br />the Colton Municipal Code are
<br />hereby amended to read as
<br />follows:
<br />Imposition - Rate. For the
<br />privilege of occupancy in any
<br />hotel, each transient is subject
<br />to and shall pay a tax in the
<br />amount of ten percent (10%) of
<br />the rent charged by the
<br />operator. Said tax constitutes a
<br />debt owed by the transient to
<br />the City which is extinguished
<br />only by payment to the operator
<br />of the hotel at the same time
<br />the rent is paid. If the rent is
<br />paid in installments, propor-
<br />tionate share of the tax shall be
<br />Paid with each installment. The
<br />unpaid tax shall be due when
<br />the transient ceases to occupy
<br />space in the hotel. If for any
<br />reason the tax due is not paid to
<br />the operator of the hotel, the
<br />Tax Administrator may require
<br />that such tax shall be paid
<br />directly to the Tax Ad-
<br />ministrator.
<br />Effective Date. This or.
<br />dinance shall be in full force
<br />and effective thirty (30) days
<br />after final passage.
<br />Ordinance No. 1472 is hereby
<br />repealed.
<br />PASSED, APPROVED and
<br />ADOPTED this 3rd day of May,
<br />1983.
