1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-28-89 <br />AN ORDTNANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />CALIFORNIA AMENDING CHAPTER 9.28 OF <br />THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE AND REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1335 DEALING WITH <br />FORTUNETF.LLING <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton finds that the <br />regulation of the practice of fortunetelling and occult arts is a <br />atter of public concern; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of. the City of Colton finds that the <br />eace and safety of the citizens is served by regulating the <br />ractice of fortunetelling and occult arts; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton does <br />ereby ordain as follows: <br />1411 Section 1: Chapter 9.28 of the Colton Municipal Code is <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ereby amended as follows: <br />"CHAPTER 9.28 <br />FORTUNETELLING AND OCCULT ARTS <br />9.28.010 DEFINITIONS. For the purposes of this chapter, the <br />following words and phrases shall have the meaning given <br />herein: <br />a. 'Fortunetelling and occult arts' shall mean telling of <br />fortunes and forecasting of futures by means of an occult, <br />psychic power, faculty, force, clairvoyance, cartomancy, <br />psychology, psychometry, numerology, hypnosis, phrenology, <br />spirits, tea leaves or other such reading, mediumship, <br />seership, augury, astrology, palmistry, necromancy, <br />mindreading, telepathy or other craft, art, science, <br />cards, talisman, charm, potion, magnetism, magnetized arti- <br />cle or substance, cunning or foresight, crystal gazing, <br />mysteries or magic of any kind or nature. <br />b. 'Fortuneteller' shall mean any person who advertises by <br />sign, circular, handbill, newspaper, periodical, magazine <br />or other means whatsoever the practice of fortunetelling and/ <br />or occult arts, and shall include any person who advertises <br />as a 'psychic' or 'spiritual reader' or 'spiritual counsel- <br />or' for the purpose of the practice of fortunetelling and/ <br />1. <br />
