The provisions of <br />Section 2.48.010 through 2.48.180 shall apply to all official positions and employments <br />in the service of the city except: <br />A. Elective officers; <br />B. Members of appointive boards, commissions and committees; <br />C. Persons engaged under contract to supply expert technical or professional <br />services for a definite period of time; <br />D. Volunteer personnel, such as volunteer firefighters and police reserves, <br />who receive no regular compensation from the city; <br />E. The positions of City Manager and City Attorney; <br />F. All department heads; <br />G. Part-time and temporary, hourly paid employees. <br />SECTION 2: With regard to any position that is newly excluded from the provisions of Chapter <br />2.48 of the Colton Municipal Code as a result of the adoption of this Ordinance, the exception <br />from civil service protection shall apply only to employees hired into such positions after the <br />effective date of this Ordinance. <br />
