4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-02-01 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />AMENDING SECTIONS 12.24.010, 12.24.060 <br />AND 12.24.150 AND ADDING SECTIONS <br />12.24.062 12.24.063, 12.24.064, AND 12.24.065 <br />RELATING TO SKATING, IN-LINE SKATING <br />SKATEBOARDING AND RIDING SCOOTERS <br />AND BICYCLES <br />WHEREAS, Vehicle Code section 21967 authorizes cities to regulate persons riding <br />IIor propelling skateboards on highways, sidewalks, or roadways; and <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to assure and promote the safe, convenient and efficient <br />circulation of pedestrians, skaters, in-line skaters, skateboarders, bicycles, scooters, and vehicles on <br />the streets, roadways, highways, sidewalks, driveways, alleys, public rights-of-way, and, when <br />applicable, public parks within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is necessary to add certain provisions to <br />the Colton Municipal Code pertaining to streets, public parks and other public rights -of way in order <br />to reduce the risk of injury to the City's citizens and the liability of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, adding these provisions to the Colton Municipal Code will serve, in part, <br />to require certain persons using a public park, street, sidewalk, or other public right of way to wear <br />a protective helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads; and <br />WHEREAS, Fleming Park possesses such special historical significance to the City, <br />that the City wishes to prohibit the use of skates, in-line skates, skateboards, scooters and bicycles <br />within Fleming Park, thereby preserving the scenic and historical character and improvements of the <br />Fleming Park. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />WPUB\JSB\607987 <br />-1- <br />
