That this City Council hereby declares its <br />intention to levy and collect special assessments within the bound- <br />aries of Annexation No. 8 & 9 to the City of Colton Landscaping <br />and Lighting District No. 1 for Fiscal year 1988-89 pursuant to the <br />Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972 to pay the costs of ordinary <br />and usual maintenance, operating and servicing certain public <br />lighting and landscaping within roadway right-of-way and public <br />utility easements within the incorporated boundaries of the City <br />of Colton as they existed on May 1, 1987 more particularly des- <br />cribed on a map which is on file in the City Clerk's office. <br />Section 2. That the existing improvements consist <br />generally of public lighting facilities and unimproved parkways and <br />medians and this City Council does contemplate proposed new public <br />landscaping and lighting improvements to be installed by the <br />petitioning landowner at its sole cost and expense. <br />Section 3• That the maintenance proposed to be performed <br />consist of the ordinary and usual maintenance, operation and <br />servicing of certain public parkways and median landscaping facil- <br />ities including; <br />(a) Repair, removal or replacement of all or part of <br />the improvements thereon. <br />(b) Providing for the life, growth, health and beauty <br />of the landscaping thereon, including cultivation, irrigation, <br />
