Fournier:
RE: Defective concrete slab at 1006 Oak Leaves Drive, Colton Ca
Thank you for your letter dated November 3, 1987. We have reviewed the enclosed
reports on the above claim subject. As discussed Mr. Founier and tor. Lai, Our
comments are as follows:
1). If sketch B is a correct presentation of the interface between the foundation
and slab, replacement of the defective concrete on top of the foundation is
difficult involving risk. Appropriate supports must be provided to keep all
structural components at their built positions as necessary.
2). Polymer pressure injection is unlikely a reliable remedy for poor concrete
of this kind as structural integrity is difficult to achieve satisfying the desired
strength and serviceability requirements.
3). A formal remedial proposal should be signed and submitted by a professional
engineer.
4). A Building permit is required for commencement of structural work.
Please let me know if you need further assistance, (714) 370-5079.
Sincerely,
Yau Shing Lai
Plans Examinar
YSL:AJ/vr
