R-33-88 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />SUPPORTING PROPOSED LEGISLATION FOR CONGRESSIONAL <br />AUTHORIZATION TO LINE PORTIONS OF THE ALL AMERICAN CANAL <br />AND THE COACHELLA BRANCH <br />WHEREAS, a significant amount of Colorado River water is now lost <br />in the process of delivering a major portion of California's apportionment <br />through the All American Canal and Coachella Branch, and; <br />WHEREAS, these canals were originally constructed as unlined <br />earthen facilities, and have remained unlined for over 40 years, and; <br />whereas, lining the canals will make better use of California's 4.4 million <br />acre-foot annual apportionment of Colorado River water, and; <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has estimated that it is <br />cost-effective to line portions of the unlined sections of the All American <br />Canal and Coachella Branch, and; <br />WHEREAS, the Secretary of the Interior holds title to the All <br />American Canal and Coachella Branch. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City <br />of Colton supports Congressional legislation authorizing the Secretary of <br />the Interior to line the All American Canal between Pilot Knob and Drop 4, <br />and the Coachella Branch between Siphon 7 and Siphon 32. <br />ADOPTED Mav 3 . 1988. <br />ATri'EST : <br />HELEN A.
