R-37-89 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF COLTON WITH RESPECT <br />TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ANTI - <br />VANDALISM PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, Vandalism is a problem that affects all Colton <br />residents both aesthetically and financially; and <br />WHEREAS, the willful destruction and/or defacement <br />of public property, costs the City of Colton approximately $100,000 <br />per year; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the City's major goals is to create an <br />attractive and aesthetically pleasing community in which to live, <br />so that residents and business people may take pride in Colton. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton <br />does hereby resolve and establish an anti -vandalism program, the <br />elements of which shall be as follows: <br />The City will pay a flat $200 reward to persons providing <br />information leading to and resulting in a conviction for malicious <br />damage to City property, where such damage exceeds $20. <br />Only one reward shall be awarded per incident of vandalism; <br />reward may, however, be apportioned among multiple claimants. <br />The Police Chief shall be charged with determining eli- <br />gibility for the reward program, and may apportion rewards among <br />multiple claimants. <br />Rewards must be claimed within 30 days of incident <br />conviction. <br />At the discretion of the Police Chief, the identity of <br />reward claimants shall be kept confidential. <br />City employees, officers, officials, and their families <br />shall not be eligible for this program. <br />
