Resolution No, R-74-90 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON FIXING A CHARGE FOR RESEARCHING AND PROVIDING INFORMATION WITH RESPECT TO DETERMINING REMAINING BALANCES OF ASSESSMENTS WHEREAS, the City's staff receives numerous requests each month from property owners, tile insurance companies, escrow companies, realtors, and property information services regarding the remaining balance of assessments against lots and parcels within the City's Assessment Districts; and WHEREAS, the research, computation and documentation required in providing such information is time-consuming and diverts the City's employees from other duties which are, in general, of benefit to the City; and WHEREAS, due to increases in costs and amounts of information required in computing remaining assessment balances, this Council deems it necessary that a charge previously adopted on November 16 , 1982 , by Resolution No. 4256 be increased in order to defray the cost of providing such information and to reimburse the general fund therefore. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Colton that a charge in the amount of $18.00 be hereby established and also to be known as the "Assessment Payoff Research Charge" which shall be collected from each person requesting information from the City with respect to the remaining balance of an assessment against a lot or parcel of property in any of the City's assessment districts; that each person requesting such information shall complete a request form therefore providing information needed by the City's Staff to expeditiously research and develop the requested information; and that the Assessment Payoff Research Charge shall be paid concurrently with the presentation of such form and prior to the commencement of any research work by City staff.
