Section 34781 of the California Government Code will be completed no later than December <br />19, 1991; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to assure the citizens of the City of Colton of its intentions <br />with regard to this matter. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES HEREBY <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS. <br />1. The City Council by this resolution refuses to place the initiative measure as proposed <br />by the committee on the ballot or to hold a special election for the purpose of placing the <br />initiative measure as proposed by the committee on the ballot for a vote of the people because <br />the City Council finds the measure to be deficient pursuant to California Government Code <br />Section 34872 in that it does not describe the boundaries of each proposed district or number <br />them. <br />2. The City Council by this resolution announces its intention to place an ordinance <br />substantially the same as that proposed by the Committee, together with properly drawn maps <br />and numbered districts, meeting all the requirements of California Government Code Sections <br />34871 and 34872 on the ballot at the election which will be held pursuant to Section 2500 of <br />the Elections Code on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June of 1992. <br />3. The City Council further directs staff and the City Clerk to take all necessary action <br />to assure that the intent and purpose of this Resolution is properly fu filled in a timely and <br />efficient manner to assure the City Council is presented with an ordinance meeting all legal <br />requirements of Section 34871 of the California Government Code so that this matter may be <br />presented to the electorate at the election as specified above. <br />that has been accepted and verified by the City Clerk <br />RESOLVED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 3rdthe day of nth r , 1991. <br />A <br />KU -CAM <br />Helen A.
