Captain may shift trade with a Captain (in the event an Engineer, <br />certified as a Captain, is shift trading with a Captain, the <br />Captain must be certified by the Department as an Engineer). <br />Paramedics may only shift trade with Paramedics. <br />J. Court Pa <br />When an employee is physically called to court, while off <br />duty, he/she shall be credited on an hour -for -hour basis for the <br />time actually spent in court. Travel time shall not be considered <br />hours worked and shall not be compensated in any manner whatsoever. <br />K. A.M. Workout <br />The period between 0830 and 1000 hours shall be allotted to <br />the employee each day for optional physical training (PT) provided <br />no department, station or joint agency training is scheduled for <br />that period and provided that no department activity, demonstration <br />or community activity has been scheduled during that period. This <br />period of 1 1/2 hours shall be used by the employee for PT and <br />shall include the morning break period. The employee shall be in <br />uniform and ready for scheduled activities at 1000 hours. However, <br />should the PT period be interrupted by an emergency, or other <br />activity the allotted time will continue upon return, until such <br />time as the 1 1/2 hours has been completed. <br />The employee shall be allowed to report to work in appropriate <br />PT clothing unless there are scheduled activities which would <br />require the employee to report in uniform. <br />The PT period may be declined, at the option of an employee. <br />The employee shall then be responsible for duties as designated by <br />his supervisor. <br />Section 3: Acting Out of Class Pay <br />Employees assigned to perform essentially the full range of <br />duties allocated to a position in a higher classification shall <br />receive acting pay in accordance with the following conditions and <br />requirements: <br />a. The work assumed must be that of a budgeted position and <br />performed in the absence of the regular incumbent. <br />b. The content of the position or work assumed must be <br />substantially the same as performed by the regular incumbent. <br />C. Credit shall not be given for any acting capacity work which <br />is referenced in a class specification as being appropriate to <br />the employee's regular position. <br />d. Any Fire employee assigned to work in a higher classification <br />for a period of four shifts or more, for shift personnel, or <br />for a 15 day period for non -shift personnel, shall receive <br />additional compensation from the first day of said assignment. <br />e. Acting capacity work must be approved by the City Manager. <br />
