R-66-92 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />TO COMPLY WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND <br />SAFETY CODE <br />SECTIONS 17958, 17958.5 AND 17958.7 <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958 and <br />Government Code Section 50022 empowers the City to adopt by <br />reference various uniform codes, including the Uniform Fire <br />Code and Uniform Building Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 <br />authorizes the City to make amendments to said Uniform Fire <br />Code and Uniform Building Code on the basis of local climatic, <br />geological, or topographical conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the <br />provisions of Section 3802 of the Uniform Building Code, 1991 <br />Edition, and amend the provisions of Section 10.507 of the <br />Uniform Fire Code, 1991 Edition; and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 <br />requires that before making any modifications or changes to <br />pursuant to Section 17958.5, the governing body of a city or <br />county shall make an express finding that such modifications or <br />changes are needed; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is informed and finds that <br />such climatic, geological and topographical conditions include, <br />but are not limited to the following conditions: <br />(1) The area of the City of Colton receives <br />relatively small amounts of precipitation, and experiences very <br />low humidity levels and extremely high temperatures.
