1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION R327-93 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON THE QUESTION OF WHETHER <br />THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE MAYOR OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON SHOULD BE <br />INCREASED TO FOUR YEARS <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the current term of office of the Mayor of the City of Colton is two years; and <br />WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 34900 et LN. permits the term of office for <br />a mayor in a general law city such as the City of Colton to be either two or four years; and <br />WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 34900 permits a city presently having a two <br />year term of office for its mayor to submit to the electorate the question of whether the mayor <br />shall serve a two-year or four-year term. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES HEREBY <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The City Council of the City of Colton hereby approves the following question <br />to be submitted to the voters of the City of Colton to be voted on in the election to be held in <br />June of 1994: <br />"Shall the term of office of mayor be four years?" <br />2. The City Council further directs staff and the City Clerk to take all necessary <br />action to assure that the intent and purpose of this Resolution are properly fulfilled in a timely <br />manner so that this ordinance may be placed on the ballot for the election to be held in June of <br />1994 so that, upon adoption by a majority of those registered voters voting in that election, this <br />ordinance will be added to the Colton Municipal Code to take effect at the next general election <br />of the City. <br />RESOLVED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of December, 1993. <br />rr <br />Frank A.
