R-53-93 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, ENDORSING THE PROCUREMENT OF RECYCLED <br />PRODUCTS AND ESTABLISHING A PREFERENCE OF <br />RECYCLED PRODUCTS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton, <br />committed to meet the mandates of AB939 as outlined in the <br />urces Reduction and Recycling Element (SRRE) adopted by the <br />ty Council on August 6, 1991, Resolution R-72-91. and <br />WHEREAS, the manufacture of products from recycled <br />terials benefits the environment by conserving energy and <br />aluable natural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Total Waste Disposal Composition" for the <br />ity of Colton indicates that 36.1% of the solid waste stream <br />s paper which can be recycled; and <br />WHEREAS, recycling does not occur until there is an end <br />se for the remanufactured product; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton can help create and sustain <br />cost competitive market for recycled materials by purchasing <br />such products. <br />NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of <br />the City of Colton; <br />That the City of Colton shall purchase recycled paper for <br />use in its operations when recycled paper is reasonably cost <br />competitive with virgin paper. Reasonably cost -competitive <br />means that recycled paper is no more than 10% more expensive <br />than the alternative. <br />
