R-67-93 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON AUTHORIZING THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR <br />THE CITY OF COLTON TO PROVIDE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS <br />FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AM/PM MINIMART <br />WHEREAS, Section 33421 of Health and Safety Code authorizes <br />redevelopment agencies to construct streets, utilities, parks, <br />playgrounds and other public improvements necessary for carrying <br />out the redevelopment plan; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 33421.1 of Health and Safety Code provides <br />that redevelopment agencies, with the consent of the City Council, <br />may assist in developing a site for commercial use so as to provide <br />streets, sidewalks, utilities, or other improvements which an owner <br />of the site would otherwise be obliged to provide; and <br />WHEREAS, Mt. Vernon AM/PM, owners/developers of a proposed <br />AM/PM Minimart located at the northeast corner of Mt. Vernon Avenue <br />and Valley Boulevard, in the Mt. Vernon Corridor Redevelopment <br />Project Area, is unable to finance the costs of certain public <br />improvements related to development of the project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency for the City of Colton is <br />desirous to provide financial assistance in the form of a $50,000 <br />loan to Mt. Vernon AM/PM to construct the necessary public <br />improvements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the City Council of the City of Colton approves such <br />expenditure by the Redevelopment Agency for construction of public <br />improvements that the owner of the site would otherwise be obliged <br />to provide. <br />
