R-07-95 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON REGARDING THE PROPOSED <br />FEDERAL IMPLEMENTATION PLAN (FIP) <br />ESTABLISHING REQUIREMENTS DESIGNED <br />TO REDUCE AIR POLLUTION EMISSIONS <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton has been asked by the South Coast Air <br />Quality Management District to request the Environmental Protection <br />Agency (EPA) to take the necessary steps to approve the California State <br />Implementation Plan (SIP), including delaying promulgation of a Federal <br />Implementation Plan (FIP) if final action on the SIP is not taken by February <br />15,1995; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton requests the EPA commit to the <br />aggressive national regulation of those sources over which the federal <br />government has sole jurisdiction or which are best regulated on a national <br />level, as outlined in the California SIP, and if these policies are adopted the <br />Federal Implementation Plan (FIP) would not be required; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton also requests that if a FIP is ultimately <br />promulgated, EPA should amend it to significantly reduce its adverse impact <br />on California. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council <br />of the City of Colton support the South Coast Air Quality Management <br />District and join them in their efforts in requesting the EPA to take <br />appropriate steps to approve the California SIP. <br />
