R-45-95 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON IN SUPPORT OF AB 1788 <br />WHICH WILL APPROPRIATE $1.1 MILLION TO <br />FUND THE STATE'S OFFICE OF PERMIT <br />ASSISTANCE GRANTS-IN-AID PROGRAM TO <br />ASSIST COUNTIES AND CITIES IN ESTABLISHING <br />AN EXPEDITED PERMIT PROCESS IN OUR LOCAL <br />JURISDICTIONS <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton expresses its support for AB 1788 <br />(Brewer) which would appropriate $1.1 million to fund the State's Office of <br />Permit Assistance grants-in-aid program to assist counties and cities in <br />establishing an expedited permit process in our local jurisdictions; and, <br />WHEREAS, this grants program provides direct funding assistance <br />to local governments so that cities can implement a streamlined permit <br />process that responds to the needs of business communities while improving <br />the overall economic climate of the state; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Permit Assistance in the State's Trade and <br />Commerce Agency has been helpful to the Southern California Association <br />of Governments' (SCAG) development of a regional pilot permit <br />streamlining project; and, <br />WHEREAS, AB 1788 allows the state to join in a partnership to <br />reduce the regulatory burden at all levels, and with the stated intent of AB <br />1788 to provide $1.1 million every year through the 1998-99 fiscal year; and, <br />
