R-88-95 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON DEFINING EXEMPTIONS AND IMPLEMENTATION <br />FOR A UTILITY USERS TAX AS ESTABLISHED UNDER <br />URGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 0-04-95 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Urgency Ordinance No. 0-04-95, implementing <br />a Utility Users Tax; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council in adopting Urgency Ordinance No. 0-04-95 has <br />determined imposition of the utility users tax might cause undue hardship to certain individuals <br />and that said individuals should be exempt from payment of the utility users tax under guidelines <br />to be established by a separate order or Resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: SPECIAL EXEMPTION - LOW INCOME. <br />Households with combined incomes equal to or less than the limits for "Very Low Family <br />Income" as determined by the California Public Utilities Commission from time to time and as <br />followed by Southern California Edison in its California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) <br />program for San Bernardino County and all qualifying senior citizens shall be exempt. <br />SECTION 2: APPLICATION FOR EXEMPTION - REVIEW AND <br />CERTIFICATION <br />(a) Application for exemption shall be filed with the Tax Administrator or his/her written <br />designee on such forms as the Tax Administrator may provide. <br />(b) Application may be filed at any time and is valid for a period of twelve months <br />
