R-130-21 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A <br />GRANT AWARD FROM THE DEPARMENT OF <br />RESOURCES RECYCLING RECOVER (CALRECYCLE) <br />AND AMEND THE FY 2021-22 BUDGET TO ACCEPT THE <br />GRANT FUNDING AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br />MANAGER OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ALL <br />GRANT DOCUMENTS <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. R-34-21 authorized the submittal of applications for <br />CalRecycle grants for which the City of Colton is eligible. The City was notified November 2"d <br />they have been awarded the requested $40,000 tire amnesty grant; and <br />WHEREAS, The intent of the grant is to create a twice a month fire amnesty event paid <br />through grant funds. The fire amnesty events will provide free and convenient waste tire collect <br />for the residents of the City of Colton and businesses that have been victims of illegal dumpi <br />and <br />WHEREAS, The City of Colton currently collects an average of seventy-five illegally <br />dumped tires a month. On average, 900 tires a year are collected, but there are likely several more <br />abandoned in areas throughout the City. The City Public Works and Sustainability Division will <br />host two collection events a month for 12 months at the City of Colton Public Works facility. The <br />City will also host tire collections during the annual dump days the 2"d Saturday of October 2022 <br />and April 2022 located at the Gonzales Community Center; and <br />WHEREAS, Residents of Colton and businesses that have fallen victim of illegal dumping <br />will be allowed to bring up to twenty tires twice a month at no charge. Individuals hauling 10-20 <br />tires would need to obtain written authorization from a Local Enforcement Agency (LED) that can <br />be found on the CalRecycle website. City staff will need to log all residents and businesses who <br />participate in each event; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Colton authorizes <br />acceptance of the a grant award from CalRecyle; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the City Council approves amending the Fiscal Year 2021-22 <br />budget to: <br />
