R-25-98 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLTON DIRECTING <br />THE PERSONNEL DIRECTOR TO ESTABLISH POLICIES <br />AND PROCEDURES TO CONDUCT BACKGROUND CHECKS <br />WHEREAS, persons who have been convicted of felonies or misdemeanors involvi <br />moral turpitude may desire to seek employment with the City of Colton; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton wishes to protect its employees, residents, and pe <br />conducting business with the City of Colton from persons convicted of felonies <br />misdemeanors involving moral turpitude while reducing its exposure to liability; and <br />WHEREAS, Penal Code Section I I105(b)(10) authorizes cities to access state summ <br />criminal history information for employment, licensing, and certification purposes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Col <br />hereby instructs the Personnel Director to enact policies and procedures governing access <br />criminal background material as evidenced by the attached "EXHIBIT". <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of March 1998. <br />ATTEST: <br />lea �-- <br />CAROLINA P.
