VERNON AVENUE NEAR LAUREL STREET WITHOUT <br />SOLICITING COMPETITIVE BIDS <br />WHEREAS, Section 22050 of the Public Contract Code governs emergency contracting <br />procedures applicable to the City of Colton; <br />WHEREAS, the Colton City Council finds that an emergency condition exists on Mt. <br />Vernon Avenue near Laurel Street which requires immediate work to repair leaks in approximately 442 <br />feet of sewer main; <br />WHEREAS, the emergency condition does not allow time for solicitation of bids. <br />BE IT NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. Tom Clarke, Utility Director, is delegated the authority to order the materials <br />and labor to repair leaks in approximately 442 feet of sewer main (on Mt. <br />Vernon Avenue near Laurel Street) which is causing Mt. Vernon Avenue to <br />sink in various places along the Avenue, and to take any further actions <br />authorized by Section 22050 of the Public Contract Code to respond to the <br />emergency. <br />2. The Utility Director, or his designee, shall report the project status to the City <br />Council at each regularly scheduled Council meeting during the course of the <br />project, and the Council shall determine whether to continue the project, by a <br />four/fifths vote, until the emergency project is either terminated by Council or <br />completed. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd of June, 1998. <br />Karl Gaytan, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Carolina P.
