R- 47-98 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON TO OPPOSE THE CALIFORNIA STATE <br />LEGISLATURE'S PROPOSED REPEAL OF THE VEHICLE <br />LICENSE FEE <br />WHEREAS, existing law of the State of California requires that a specified percentage <br />of the money collected from the Vehicle License Fee be deposited in the Vehicle License Fee Account <br />of the Local Revenue Fund and provides for allocating this money to local agencies for various human <br />services programs; <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton relies upon the revenue received from the Vehicle <br />License Fee; <br />WHEREAS, proposed legislation in the form of Assembly Bill 1776 (McClintock), <br />Senate Bill 1723 (Haynes), Senate Bill 1998 (Hunt), and Senate Bill 2001 (Hunt) seek to repeal the <br />Vehicle License Fee; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council determines that without said revenue, the public health, <br />safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Colton will be jeopardized. <br />BE IT NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The City Council of the City of Colton hereby opposes Assembly Bill 1776 <br />(McClintock), Senate Bill 1723 (Haynes), Senate Bill 1998 (Hurtt), and Senate Bill 2001 (Hurtt), <br />which seek to repeal the State of California Vehicle License Fee. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of jive , 1998. <br />7,-, <br />T: <br />Carolina P.
