R-02-00 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ACCEPTING <br />AN ADDITIONAL $1,949 IN "BILL GATES LIBRARY INITIATIVE GRANT" FUNDING <br />AND AMENDING THE ADOPTED BUDGET FOR A TOTAL FY 1999/2000 <br />APPROPRIATION OF $36,949. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton is dedicated to building a more literate <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Bill Gates Library Initiative has awarded the Colton Public Library $36,949 in <br />computer equipment, in addition to wiring, logistics support, training, software; and <br />WHEREAS, a need exists to augment the current computer literacy program, providing services <br />to citizens who do not have ready access to personal computers or the Internet; and <br />WHEREAS, the Colton Public Library was one of the first public libraries in the country to <br />recognize the need to offer public access to computers and the Internet; involving both children and <br />parents in organized computer literacy training; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Colton accept an <br />additional $1,949 in Bill Gates Library Initiative Grant Funding amending the adopted budget for a total <br />FY 1999/2000 appropriation of $36,949 as follows: <br />LIBRARY GRANT REVENUE - "GATES LIBRARY GRANT" $36,949 <br />LIBRARY GRANT EXPENDITURE - "EQUIPMENT" $36,949 <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 4T" DAY OF JANUARY 2000. <br />KARL E.
