ATTACHMENT "A" CITY OF COLTON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROJECT PROPOSAL APPLICATIONS 1. City of Colton -Parks, Recreation and Family Services Department, South Colton Park Improvements, $95,000: CDBG funds are being requested for improvements at three different park sites. (1) Veterans Park: Patio slab, outdoor basketball court, play equipment, skateboard area with portable skateboard ramps ($50,500), (2) Mini -park, located north of "N" Street, between 5th Street and the alley: Landscaping, install irrigation system and children's play equipment ($15,000), (3) Mini -park, located north of "N" Street, between 7th Street and the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad tracks: Landscaping, install irrigation system and children's play equipment ($15,000). The remaining $14,500 will be used for Architectural and Engineering Services. 2. City of Colton -Parks, Recreation and Family Services Department/Child Care Division, Computer Education Enrichment Program $10,000: CDBG funds are being requested to purchase eight (8) computers for the Child Care Latchkey sites. There are four (4) Latchkey sites that provide educational childcare. Two computers per site would be provided to assist school age children in developing their computer skills and provide an enriched educational experience. 3. City of Colton -Colton Public Library, Adult Literacy Services Program, $24,000: The Colton Public Library proposes to expand in providing adult literacy services at the Colton Public Library and the Pete Luque Branch for low and moderate income adults. Staff will coordinate a free reading and writing instructional program. 4. City of Colton -Public Works Department, South Colton Missing Links Street & Drainage Improvements, $248,825: The Public Works Department is proposing to utilize CDBG funds to install missing curbs, gutter, sidewalks, drive approaches, handicap ramps, pave five alleys, match -up paving, and cross -gutters and ribbon gutters to address drainage problems on "N", "O", 4th, 5th, Birch & Maple Streets and Birch & Maple Courts in South Colton. The project area is located in Block Group 4, Census Tract 69, which contains over 60 percent low -and moderate -income residents. ALS (cdbgprop.doc)
