R-60-01 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLTON CLARIFYING <br />THE NAME OF HISTORIC LANDMARKS NO. 2 AND NO. 8 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton has an Ordinance establishing rules and regulations <br />governing the designation and perpetration of historic sites and artifacts; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 29, 1926, the City Council accepted a deed from the <br />Portland Cement Company for a public park naming and designating the park by Ordinance <br />No 438 as Thomas 1. Fleming Memorial Park; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 15, 1989, the City of Colton adopted Resolution No. R-111-89 <br />adding "Fleming Park" to the Local Official Register of Historic Resources as Landmark No 2; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, on October 22, 1991, the City of Colton adopted Resolution No R-98-91 <br />adding the "Colton Museum", 380 N. La Cadena, as Landmark #8; and, <br />WHEREAS, both the State of California and the United States Park Service National <br />Register of Historic Locations reflect the current "Colton Museum" site as the Carnegie Public <br />Library; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission having received notice by public <br />record desires to clarify the names used on the original designations in Resolution Nos. R- <br />111-89 and R-98-91 to their proper names; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton is the owner of record of both landmarks; and <br />WHEREAS, duly authorized public hearings were previously held for both <br />designations and since the landmark sites remain unchanged with only typographical <br />clarifications being needed, new public hearings are not necessary; <br />1 <br />
