R-03-02 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, APPROVING SUPPLEMENTAL PAY FOR ANY FULL- <br />TIME CITY EMPLOYEE WHO IS A MILITARY RESERVIST AND <br />CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America is at war due to terrorist attacks o <br />September 11, 2001, and currently there is activation of military reservists; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to applicable law, the City of Colton provides military <br />and compensation for its eligible City employees; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City <br />Colton hereby directs that the formal Rules and Regulations, specifically Rule No. <br />Section 8, be modified to include the following : <br />1. Full-time, regular active, City employees called to active duty as a result of <br />terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, shall receive the difference <br />their regular City salary as established by present Rules and Regulations an( <br />their total military salary , starting on the 31St calendar day of military leave <br />The difference in salary shall continue for up to one year of active military <br />service which includes the thirty (30) days provided for in the City's Rules an( <br />Regulations. During this one year period, the City will continue to provide the <br />eligible employee the benefit plan as was provided prior to such active duty <br />Payment into the PERS retirement plan will be made on a prorated basis <br />Employees activated after January 15, 2003, will not be eligible for an) <br />benefits beyond those mandated by law, unless such compensation is <br />expressly approved by the City Council of the City of Colton. <br />
