EXHIBIT A <br />AMENDMENT TO THE <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE COLTON POLICE OFFICER'S ASSOCIATION (CPOA) <br />AND THE CITY OF COLTON <br />This document contains a modification to the agreement, between the Colton Police <br />Officer's Association (CPOA) and the City of Colton. This modification shall be <br />incorporated into the comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and will be <br />placed into effect as of November 23, 2002. The Association agrees amending the <br />following Sections in the comprehensive MOU: <br />Section 1. Compensation: Article II, Section 4-C, inserting the following: <br />D: School Resource Officer <br />The parties agree that if an SRO leaves the program at a time other than the <br />beginning of the school year, the compensatory time accrued as a result of the <br />nine (9) hour workday should be handled in the following manner: <br />Retirement or Resignation from CPD: Employee will be cashed out as with any <br />other accrued compensatory time. <br />Voluntary Transfer or End of Assignment: Employee will be provided a <br />reasonable time to schedule time off to reduce the accrued compensatory time. <br />Involuntary Transfer: Employee may elect to cash out, bank, or schedule time off <br />to reduce the accrued compensatory time. <br />Section 2. Leave Usage: Article IV, Section 5-B adding the following to the end of this <br />section: <br />1. School Resource Officer (SRO) <br />■ Generally shall schedule to be off during the year while school is not in <br />session. This typically will include Winter Holidays (two weeks), Spring <br />Break (one week), Summer Break (two weeks). <br />■ Additionally, SRO's shall schedule to be off during school recognized <br />holidays and "In Service" days when students are not attending school <br />(approximately 15 days) unless previously arranged with their Supervisor for <br />specialized training or other needs beneficial to the City. <br />■ It is agreed that compensation for the days off outlined in this section shall be <br />compensated via the use of compensatory time accrued as a result of the nine - <br />hour workdays or their Holiday Leave bank. <br />0 School Resource Officer's acknowledge that additional vacation time of 1- <br />4 weeks should be scheduled during summer break and will need to be <br />CPOA Sideletter 090302 <br />10/8/2002 <br />
