R-106-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ALLOWING THE
RECEIPT OF FUNDS FROM SUPERVISOR BACA TO THE
COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR
REPLACEMENT OF THE SCOREBOARD AT KEN HUBBS
FIELD
WHEREAS, the City of Colton owns the land, field, facilities, and scoreboard
where the Ken Hubbs Little League host its games and practices, adjacent to Max J. Lofty
Park. Thus, the City of Colton is responsible for maintenance, upkeep, and renovation.
WHEREAS, the electronic scoreboard that is exclusively used by the Ken Hubbs
Little League is old, in disarray, and needs to be replaced. The field and facilities are owned
by the City, technically replacement costs should fall on the City of Colton. However, since
the City of Colton does not use the aforementioned field, replacement of the scoreboard is of
low priority.
WHEREAS, Supervisor Baca has offered to pay for said scoreboard replacement,
plus some minor field maintenance issues. Supervisor Baca, not knowing the intricacies of
League use and City ownership of the field, gave a check to Ken Hubbs Little League
for $10,000.
WHEREAS, Ken Hubbs Little League wrote check number #001302 to the
City of Colton, with the understanding that the City of Colton would replace the scoreboard at
the aforementioned field.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of.the City of Colton does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1: The staff report accompanying this resolution is found to be true, adopted as
findings, and incorporated into this resolution.
Section 2:. City approves the Community. Services Department to move forward, research,
and purchase a scoreboard for Ken Hubbs Field.
