CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 20, 2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Tom T. Hendrix, Fire Chiefs <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing to Discuss the City's Weed Abatement Program <br />DATE: March 8, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Annually, each Spring and Fall, the Fire Department administers the City's Weed <br />Abatement Program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />At the regular City Council Meeting on March 6, 2001, the City Council approved <br />Resolution No. R-17-01 declaring weeds, rubbish and trash a public nuisance and <br />directing the Fire Chief to give notice and provide for the abatement. <br />At this time, the City is entering into the Spring Program. Notices have been sent to <br />vacant property owners as identified and reported from the County Tax Assessor. <br />Abatement proceedings are scheduled to begin May 1, 2001. <br />In addition, a Public Hearing is required to hear any objections by property owners <br />who may be assessed for the abatement. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />Pagel of 2 Item #2 <br />.,.� <br />F <br />
