1 RESOLUTION NO. 2496 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 "NATIONAL HIGHWAY WEEK" <br /> 4 <br /> 5 WHEREAS, National Highway Week is sponsored annually to direct the <br /> 6 attention of the American public to the importance of highway improvements <br /> 7 in terms of the benefits of improved safety and financial return, both to <br /> 8 motorists and to the public at large; and <br /> 9 WHEREAS, in California this recognition is doubly important because <br /> 10 we are engaged in a freeway master plan program of unparalleled proportion; <br /> 11 and <br /> 12 WHEREAS, the theme for this year's National Highway Week is "Better <br /> 13 Highways Now - Save Time, Lives and Money"; and <br /> 14 WHEREAS, the American Association of State Highway Officials through <br /> 15 its member highway departments is coordinating National Highway Week; and <br /> 161 <br /> WHEREAS, both President Johnson and Governor Brown will issue <br /> 17 proclamations concerning National Highway Week; <br /> 18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br /> 19 Colton goes on record designating October 4 - 10 as "National Highway Week" <br /> 20 to call attention to the importance of highway and freeway improvements and <br /> 21 to inform the public of the special events being planned throughout the State <br /> 22 during this week. <br /> 23 PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 15th day of September , 1964. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 <br /> zldK;-x_ <br /> 26 <br /> JOHN M.
