Settlement Authority <br />June 11, 2001 <br />Page 2 <br />survey indicates that seven of the ten ICRMA cities surveyed, of similar size and population, have <br />settlement authority of $25,000. <br />Staff's ability to provide expeditious service to the public has been severely restricted. It is <br />extremely important to respond to the needs of the residents of the City when an adverse claim <br />occurs. Waiting for fund approval causes a lengthy delay in this process. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the Human Resource Director/Risk Manager to have <br />settlement authority on all liability claims from the current amount of $15,000 to $25,000.
