CITY OF COLTON <br />UTILITIES ADMINISTRATIVE ANALYST <br />DEFINITION: <br />Under the direction of the Utility Director, performs duties assigned including <br />professional analytical and administrative work on projects unique to the Electric Utility; <br />participates in a variety of studies and research for programs and their financial support; <br />prepares reports and recommendations relative to assigned area of responsibility. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: <br />The Utilities Administrative Analyst is a journey level distinguished from the <br />Administrative Analyst series by its emphasis on utility related analysis, and the <br />performance of the full range of the most complex and difficult projects working <br />independently and with minimal supervision. Includes technical knowledge of the utility <br />operations that allow for a clear and accurate interface with customer inquiries and <br />operating staff. <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following) <br />• Conduct surveys and perform administrative research and statistical or financial <br />analysis. <br />• Compile data or materials and prepare reports, manuals and publications. <br />• Assists in the design and implementation of systems and forms for operational use. <br />• Assists in the preparation of department budgets including reviewing and analyzing <br />financial data and justifications. <br />• Provides information and assists during departmental financial or operational audits. <br />• Specialize in and/or be assigned to any department and may participate in <br />administrative studies in areas outside the scope of regular duties. <br />• Operate radio to dispatch service crews. <br />• Compile data for emergency response crews. <br />• Prepare Purchase Power Invoices. <br />• Prepare and submit regulatory and financial reports. <br />• Prepare power supply forecasts and management reports. <br />• Performs other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, <br />kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The <br />position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in <br />preparing statistical reports and data using a computer key board. Additionally, the <br />position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a <br />computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and <br />communicating in person. The need to lift, drag, and push files, computer reports, or <br />other materials weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. <br />
