CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 17, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR W <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL FOR THE RECRUITMENT AND <br />RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO CUSTOMER <br />SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I POSITIONS IN THE CUSTOMER <br />SERVICE DIVISION OF THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Customer Service Division of the Finance Department is comprised of a staff of 10 <br />employees: Customer Service Manager (1), Sr. Customer Service Representative (1), Customer <br />Service Representative II (5) and Customer Service Representative 1 (3). The current monthly <br />pay rate is $2,304 - $2,801. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />On April 5, 2005 the City Council authorized staff to establish an eligibility list for the purpose of <br />filling the pending vacancies in the Customer Service Division of the Finance Department. The list <br />has been established and two candidates have been selected to be brought on board to fill the <br />vacancies. After conducting the testing and oral interviews two new candidates were hired to fill <br />the vacant positions. However one of the new candidates has since informed the City of Colton <br />the intention of resigning from her position due to personal reasons. Staff feels that the current <br />list does not have eligible candidates that meet all the requirements of the position and requests <br />Council authorization to create a new eligibility list and fill the upcoming vacancy from this list. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The funds are approved in the Customer Service Division's salary account number 100-6040- <br />6042-1010 and benefits in account 100-6040-6042-1100. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the request for establishing a new list for the <br />position of Customer Service Representative I in the Customer Service Division of the Finance <br />Department and authorize staff to recruit and ratify employee appointment to the said position. <br />REVIEW TEAM LY <br />City Attorney: As Finance Director: <br />City Manager: OTHER: � irn- <br />
