CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF January 17, 2006 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director SUBJECT: Approve and Accept State Instruction Materials Grant for the Childcare Division of the Community Services Department DATE: January 3, 2006 BACKGROUND: Periodically, the State of California makes one-time basis funds available in the form of grants for instruction materials for existing facilities. This year the State is making $2,264 available to the Childcare Division's Latchkey program, for use to purchase various learning materials. DISC USSION/ANALYSIS: For the current fiscal year, these State grant funds will be used for either durable or consumable developmentally appropriate and curriculum -related instructional materials for our (4) latchkey childcare sites. All equipment and materials purchased will be in compliance with State licensing standards. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no general fund impact from this grant receipt. The funds should be placed into Childcare revenue account 206-5880, and the appropriation in Childcare expenditure account 206-7200-7202-2304 will be increased likewise by the grant amount of $2,264.
