CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2006 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Jeannette Olko, Electric Utility General Manager <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Wood Poles and Crossarms to One <br />Source Distributors in the Amount of $70,720.19 <br />DATE: February 13, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City purchases various size treated wood poles and crossarms into Electric Stores inventory <br />when the quantities on hand reach a pre -determined level, or when new development projects <br />have been approved requiring the installation of new power poles in order to provide electric <br />service. <br />At this time, the Electric Utility has a requirement for various size wood poles and crossarms for <br />new development projects, as well as to maintain inventory levels in the warehouse. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />On January 19, 2006, the Electric Department posted a Notice Inviting Informal Bids for various <br />size wood poles and crossarms. Bid packages were mailed to six manufacturers and distributors <br />of treated wood products. A Bid Opening was held at 2:00 P.M. on February 6, 2006 at the <br />Electric Department Administrative offices. Two bids were received and evaluated. <br />A Bid Analysis is attached showing the price and delivery quoted by each vendor. Each of the two <br />vendors based their bids on "all or none', indicating the price quoted was good for the entire order <br />only. The recommended vendor's price is underlined. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Wood poles and crossarms are purchased into Electric Stores inventory account number 520- <br />1500-154. and are charged to the appropriate budgeted account as they are put into service. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements <br />(Exact Company Name) One Source Distributors. <br />President: (Name & Title) Bob Zamarripa, President <br />Contact: (Name) Mary Bertao <br />
